We currently have an opportunity within our operations for a Heavy Vehicle Driver to join our team due to growth within the business.  This opportunity is open to candidates who hold a HC or MC License.  We are a great business to grow with for those looking to upskill from a HC or from General Freight into the Dangerous Goods sector and offer a safe working environment, encourage a proactive safety culture and on-the job training to build your excellence within our team.

We are looking for a licensed Heavy Vehicle Driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely loading & delivery of Dangerous Goods (SSAN) and/or General Freight (palletised). You will be tasked with driving a heavy vehicle and adhering to safe driving behaviors, safely loading goods and undertaking sufficient load restraint in accordance with the Load Restraint Guidelines, complying with all aspects of Heavy Vehicle National Law as well as working closely with others in a fast-paced operational team environment. 

Job Description:

  • Tasks will include demonstrating pride & care in the cleanliness of the heavy vehicle and equipment you will operate, conducting pre-start checks and reporting all faults, conducting changeovers with other operators, inspecting load restraints and safety equipment to ensure safe operation, loading and unloading activities, strapping and tarping of loads where required and other transport duties as directed
  • One-driver-one-truck operational model 
  • Managing driving hours in accordance with MMI fatigue management system (BFM)
  • Complete all transport & compliance documents to a high standard
  • Keep all equipment clean and tidy
  • Communicate with team members effectively
  • Comply with all Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Comply with all company procedures
  • Hold a high regard for Health & Safety of yourself and others.

Applicants must possess:

  • Provide 5 years driving history
  • Experience operating an HC or MC – willing to discuss development opportunities to MC and from General Freight to Dangerous Goods for the right candidate
  • Have undertaken or consent to undertake a Commercial Drivers Medical Assessment
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol check
  • Good can-do attitude and willingness to learn

 

Applicants may also have or be willing to be upskilled:

  • Willing to undertake or currently hold a Queensland Explosives Security Clearance for SSAN
  • Willing to undertake or hold an Explosives Drivers Licence for Class 5.1
  • Willing to undertake or hold a Dangerous Goods Licence
